Marching 110 to Travel to France

On Sunday, January 18th, the Marching 110 held its annual end-of-the-season banquet on the campus of Ohio University, officially concluding 2014 season.

The highlight of the event was the announcement that the Marching 110 would once again be traveling abroad during the 2015-2016 season.  From May 1-10, 2016, the Marching 110 will be traveling to Paris, France!

The trip marks the second time the Marching 110 will travel to Europe, following their May 2013 trip and performances in Dublin, Ireland and Rome, Italy.  The 2013 trip, in celebration of the Ohio University Bands' 90th anniversary, included a special performance in St. Peter's Square, Vatican City.

The 2016 trip will kick off a two-year celebration for the Marching 110.  In the fall of 1967, Gene Thrailkill made the dramatic change in the uniform and marching style of the Ohio University Marching Band.  The 2016-2017 calendar year marks the 50th anniversary era of the original "Marching 110," and the trip is just the beginning of two years of celebration for the Marching 110.

Highlights of the May 2016 will include a performance in front of the Eiffel Tower, a patriotic performance near the beaches of Normandy, site of the D-Day invasion, and a performance in Disneyland Paris!  Other excursions may include visits to the Cathedral at Notre Dame, the Palace of Versailles, and a day-trip to London, U.K.

While the cost and final details are yet to be determined, there will be trip packages, including all airfare and hotel accommodations, for Marching 110 Alumni, friends, and family.
